Heat Transfer System


Heat transfer systems or also known as thermal transfer systems or Temperature Control Units, are designed to provide indirect heat to processes using a thermal transfer fluid. Thermal Transfer fluids include water, glycol, water-glycol mixtures, and thermal oils. Heat transfer systems provide heating and cooling of exothermic processes. Heating and cooling can be accomplished using the same thermal transfer fluid. Heat Transfer Systems are used when close even temperatures are required across the process.

Gaumer Process provides standard and custom thermal transfer systems. Capabilities include complete engineering, manufacturing in house and field service for startups. Standard document package includes P&ID, General arrangement drawings, equipment and instrument data sheets, and installation and operation manual (IOM).

Pre-Engineered and proven design that has been field tested under rugged conditions at temperatures up to 750°F (400°C)

Low point fill connection for filling the system from the bottom to properly vent the system

Low Watt Density Alloy 800 sheath elements

Flexible pump inlet and outlet connections to protect pump from piping thermal growth

Unique "Buffer Tank" factory installed to prevent degradation of thermal oils in atmospheric expansion tanks. Buffer tank prevents hot oil from entering the atmospheric tank

All welded construction with flanged connections

Self-venting horizontal heating chamber eliminates the need to manually vent the heater

Piping insulated with non-wicking insulation to prevent fire hazard

Mechanically sealed pumps to eliminate constant dripping that occurs with packed seals

Nema 12/4 industrial SCR control panel for precise control

Positive displacement pumps for lower flows with integral pressure relief valve

Heating element sensing sensor to prevent over temperature and damage to equipment in the event of fault. Sensor is connected to a certified over temperature controller

Centrifugal pumps for higher flows

PID Temperature Controller for accurate temperature control

Expansion tank either mounted on the system or shipped separate for mounting above the process

ASME or PED certification of pressure vessels

Inert gas blanketing of expansion tank for higher process temperatures

Piping to ASME B31.1 or B31.3

Spray guards for flanges on high temperature application

Nema 7 / Flameproof construction for classified areas

Insulation blankets for valves and flanges

Controls shipped separate for remote control

Skid enclosure panels for personnel protection

Multiple zones on common skid

Non Sealed "canned" or magnetically driven pumps for higher temperature applications

Backup pump mounted and pre-pipped to allow pump service without shutting the system down

Bellows sealed valves for higher temperature applications

Air/Liquid or Liquid/Liquid heat exchanger for crash cooling or fully modulated for exothermic processes

Piping analysis where plant standards do not allow flexible piping connection to the pump
