Tank Washer
A manufacturer for forklifts wanted an automated system to clean the inside of their
hydraulic tanks. They approached several suppliers, but no one was interested in tackling
this project. Then they contacted Gaumer. Our engineering and sales staff met with the
client and developed a unique solution for their application. We designed and built a
machine that functions as follows:
The operator pushed a button to open the door. He slides the tank in and presses the button
to close the door. After pressing the start button, a ram comes down and captures the tank.
It is rotated 90 degrees and then a rotating nozzle delivering 125 PSI hot water sprays the
inside of the tank. At the end of the wash cycle, the tank is dried with compressed air,
rotated back in place, and then released. A light indicated when the cycle is complete, and
the operator can open the door to remove the tank. The tank guides are adjustable to fit
several different sizes. The control sequence is driven by a PLC.
As always Gaumer Process Heaters, Systems, and Controls provided a custom solution to a
difficult problem.
